3D Design & Printing
For this project you will plan, design, and print an object that could be used to solve a problem, make something easier, or for entertainment purposes.
Some Ideas:
- Invention - Create something that solves a real life problem and/or is useful to you. For example: earbud holder, pencil holder, smartphone case/stand, Sphero chariot, etc.
- Figurine - An animal, superhero, video game character, etc.
- Architecture/Design - Build a model of a house, car, boat, etc.
- History - Replica of an artifact from history.
- Board Game Pieces - Dice, game pawns, chess pieces, monopoly houses, lego bricks, etc. Details will be important in these choices.
- School: Replica of a science model, an Escher tesselation, something for your school locker, etc.

2. Log into Tinkercad: Log in < Personal Account < Sign in with Google.
If you never used Tinkercad before see your teacher.

3. You need to review measuring in millimeters and centimeters first. Play the Ruler Game.
You must get a score of at least 1000, and your timer must be on. Show your teacher your score!

4. Next, you must complete the following 3 activities to review 3D design and printing. These are
required before you can design or print items of your choice.

Once you are logged in, go to "Tinker" at the top of the page. Click on 3D Design, and scroll down
until you see Getting Started.
You will complete the Chess Pawn, Saw Shaped Wrench, and Die From Scratch activities

Find the project called: Chess Pawn. Follow the steps to create the chess pawn. When you complete the lesson, show it to your teacher. |

5. Now you are ready to begin planning your project using the Preliminary Sketch & Measurement
sheet. Ask your teacher where to find this.
Once your project design sketch is approved, begin designing in Tinkercad. WHEN FINISHED, DO NOT

6. Begin building your model! See your teacher when you are ready to print.
