Gamestar Mechanic
Gamestar Mechanic is a game based digital learning platform designed to teach the guiding principles of game design and systems thinking. Students learn to think analytically and to experiment and test theories. The user interface is highly engaging and creative. Designing games builds: 21st century skills, creative problem solving, art and aesthetics, writing and storytelling, and creates motivation for STEM learning! Gamestar Mechanic teaches to the Next Generation Science Standards.
Students will learn how to design their own video games by working through tutorials and learning about the elements of video game design and how they work together. They will also be given different challenges such as fixing broken games or changing one element of a game to see how the other elements are affected. Students will have a final project to complete.
