6th graders will be introduced to LEGO's free Computer Aided Design program called Lego Digital Designer. In this program students can drag and drop a wide variety of parts onto a workspace, manipulate them, and create their own Lego models on screen. LDD is a great way to get kids working in a 3D environment, as well as problem solving, thinking creatively, using self-directed learning, all while having fun. The ISTE standards addressed are: 1.d., 4.a., 4.b., 4.c., 4.d., 5.a., 5.b.. 6.a., and 6.b.
Objectives:
- Students will be able to demonstrate technical knowledge by downloading and install Lego Designer Software.
- Students will be able to design and develop Lego models following instruction provided by the lesson.
- Students will be able to share their design and improve the design based upon peer feedback.
How to Begin:
1. Click on this link, to watch the tutorial videos.
2. Find a desktop computer and open up Lego Digital Designer. You will find it in your
computer dock at the bottom of your computer screen. 3. Spend some time practicing what you learned in the videos. The more you practice the better you will be. 4. When you are done practicing, watch this review video. |
5. Read the directions below very carefully.
6. When you're finished with your project ask your teacher how to turn it in.
